Urban Water Management Plan
The Urban Water Management Planning Act (Water Code sections 10610 through 10657) (Act) requires every urban water supplier to prepare and adopt an Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) and Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP) at least once every five years in years ending in six and one. Under section 10621 of the Act, each urban water supplier must update and submit its 2025 UWMP by July 1, 2026 to the California Department of Water Resources. The UWMP is a planning document to direct urban water suppliers to evaluate their water supply and reliability and compare that to their water conservation efforts.
The Public Hearing and Adoption Meeting for the 2025 UWMP and WSCP is planned for June 8, 2026. The public hearing will allow community input on the District’s water supply reliability, the economic effects of complying with the Act, and the District’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan. Information regarding the public meeting will be published at least twice in the Bakersfield Californian and available on the agenda located on the District’s website prior to the meeting.
If you have any comments regarding the District’s UWMP and WSCP, please provide them to the District prior to the planned public hearing. Written comments can be emailed to ncooper@greenfieldcwd.org or mailed to Greenfield County Water District.
